In 2011 they identified that tyres were a huge and unnecessary burden on the environment. In India, used tyres are burned which releases a lot of toxic chemicals into the air which impacts humans, animals and the environment.
India's waste tyres account for approximately 6-7% of the global total with the tyre industry increasing overall. Around 60% of India's tyres are disposed of through illegal dumping.
So far Ecowings have converted thousands of tyre tubes into fashionable products that have been sent all over the world. They have also provided jobs to people living in rural areas of India.
Tyres are collected from different puncture shops, the inner tubes are sorted, scrubbed and converted into a finished surface, then are cut and handmade into the different products.
